Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre Dancing With The Stars

GMDT's Dancing with the Stars GMDT's Dancing with the Stars

GMDT’s 7th Annual Dancing with the Stars of Marietta is the dance company's largest fundraising event of the year, featuring local 'community celebrities' who boldly take the stage and dance to win the hearts of the judges and audience alike. This year, five 'all-star' groups -- each paired with a GMDT choreographer -- will compete against each other by performing a polished dance routine. People's Choice votes are received through donations, and the night's winners will walk away with the coveted mirror ball trophy while the proceeds go to support GMDT's Season 65 performance budget, making it possible to stage three stunning productions for the coming year. Support from ticket sales and donations through voting go directly to Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization where approximately 100 local dancers train year-round in Georgia Dance Conservatory studios located on the Historic Marietta Square.

Join us in-person, Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 7:00pm, tickets start at $32.

GMDT's Dancing in the Rain

GMDT's Dancing in the Rain GMDT's Dancing in the Rain

GMDTs upperclassmen are organizing, directing, producing, choreographing, marketing, wardrobing, as well as dancing in this original production. The title gains inspiration from the quote: “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it's about learning to dance in the rain.” The Fall Showcase looks to explore this theme through the lenses of five different choreographers.

Each piece will be unique in its tone, style, and interpretation of the theme. The pieces will not focus solely on the storm we have faced in the past few months, but also the storms that we face in our lifetime and how we have not and will not let them deter us from reaching our full potential. We do not wait for the bad things to go away; we fight through them.

In-person and Live-Streamed, Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 7:00pm, tickets and live stream services start at $20.

Swan Lake

Swan Lake Swan Lake

In 2021, GMDT was scheduled to perform Swan Lake in its full glory on the stage at the Jennie T. Anderson Theater. Due to COVID-19 and shuttered venues, the production was scaled back to a showcase that was successfully livestreamed to audiences around the world. In Spring 2022, GMDT will be back on stage, performing stunning classical choreography staged by Marina Levasheva set to Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable score.
